On the 24th September 2011 Poets in 550 cities representing 95 countries will collectively host one of the largest poetry readings in history with over 700 individual events scheduled to take place to promote environmental, social, and political change. We are pleased to say that UK, Worcester is now one of the areas taking action.

Poets, writers, artists, and humanitarians will create, perform, educate and demonstrate, in their individual communities, and decide their own specific area of focus for change within the overall framework of peace and sustainability. Our theme is CHANGE.

Bob Holman and Margery Snyder, in a recent article on About.com said, “the beauty of the concept of 100 Thousand Poets for Change is that it is completely decentralized and completely inclusive.”

The Worcestershire Literary Festival will be hosting a “100,000 Poets For Change” event at Boston Tea Party in Worcester. This event is FREE ENTRY and will showcase some of the best local and regional poets from across Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

Confirmed to take part and read so far:

Maggie Doyle
Suz Winspear
Andrew Green
Michelle Crosby
Paula Martin
Nathan Williams

If you are a poet and would like to read at either event please contact Lisa Ventura via lisa@worcslitfest.com or call the Festival Office on 01905 24435.
